Little Goats Eat Ivy - Poison Ivy

My kids rolled through yet another poison ivy patch today and I was peeved. I had a decision to make. Do I run to the roundup or do I take a deep breath and stick to my guns?

I decided to stick it out and here’s my plan:

1. Did you know goats eat (and love) poison ivy? I sure didn’t. We tied little Penny here to the fence and she went to town on the ivy patch, then begged for more.

2. In the orchard, we found 2 big patches of poison ivy where old trees had once lived. Since I can’t put goats in the orchard (because they are jerks and will eat the entire tree), I decided to smother it with cardboard and top with a bunch of left over compost.
