Winter Solstice

12.21.21: Winter solstice is the day in which the uppermost part of the Northern Hemisphere is in complete darkness for a full 24 hours. It is a day of grief for the light that is gone, and a day of celebration for the light to come.

But it feels like the last couple months have been spent in constant darkness and grief, and it’s hard to see any light at all.

So I decided to spend this evening celebrating the Winter Solstice. A celebration of new life and new light.

Tonight I am simmering potpourri on the stove (cinnamon & oranges & cloves), hand-dipping raw beeswax candles, & planting Queen of the Night Tulips. And most important, taking time to thank God for this life in all of its beauty & grief & mess.

Much love friends.
