Outrageous Biodiversity
Planting season is a busy season for any vegetable or fruit grower. It’s easy to get bogged down in the long list of tasks and lose sight of the bigger picture.
This morning smelled like rain and the birds were ecstatic about it. So I grabbed a cup of coffee and tromped around the woods for a bit.
They say it takes 7 years for a diverse ecosystem to start balancing itself. I don’t know if that’s true but year 2 for us is most definitely NOT balanced. We can’t force nature, but what we can do is to aim for outrageous biodiversity, and let nature do the rest.
Today I found a solitary red raspberry, fresh spring comfrey, apple blossoms, peaches, the first blackberry flowers, busy bees, wild mulberry, and baby elderberries.
Have an amazing day!
