I Accidentally Poisoned Myself

I accidentally poisoned myself this weekend and wanted to spread awareness.

Poison Hemlock grows wild on our property, but it is also toxic to our sheep.

Because we don’t spray herbicide on our little holistic farm, I decided to pull it out by hand… without gloves… that was a bad idea.

The oils soaked into my skin and within 8 hours the vomiting started, followed by weakness and a heart rate over 100 bpm. By the next morning I could barely walk. By 48 hours I was back to normal.

The flowers look ornamental, the foliage like carrot tops with a sturdy purple stem. It has to be pulled out by the roots or it will regrow rapidly.
