Naked Tomatoes

My dear friend asked me what my favorite thing to grow in the garden is. I immediately replied... “naked tomatoes.”

Naked tomatoes (de-leafing) is a method of holistic growing common in Europe and I’ve wanted to try it SO bad.

The idea is that by removing all of the foliage except for the top few leaf stems, we can nearly eliminate common tomato diseases like blight and leaf mold... and also eliminate the need for chemicals. I have not used a SINGLE spray on these. I tell my kids to eat off the vine.

Additionally, the plant maintains adequate photosynthesis with a fraction of the leaves it produces, allowing all of that energy to be directed toward root and fruit growth.

So far, I love it!! And hopefully soon, we will be overloaded in big red tomatoes.
